VASILIS KIKILIAS

He was born in Athens in 1974. He attended the Leontio Lyceum and then studied at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, from where he graduated in 2002. He continued his studies at the Department of Administration & Organization of Health Units of the National School of Public Health. Master in 2008. In 2011 he was awarded a doctorate by the Medical School of the University of Athens.

From 1990 to 2004 he played basketball professionally. He is 2.00 meters tall and competed mainly as a small forward. He played for Panionios, Ionikos, AEK, Apollon Patras, as well as for the national basketball teams. With the National Children in 1991 he became European runner-up. In the Men’s National Team he made 6 appearances, achieving 76 points. With Panionios, he won the Greek Cup in 1991, while during his four-year tenure at AEK, he won a Championship in 2002, two Cups in 2000 and 2001, as well as the Saporta Cup in 2000.

In 2011 he was awarded an excellent doctorate by the Medical School of the University of Athens. He completed the specialty of orthopedic surgeon at the Athens General Hospital (2006-2012). He was elected Municipal Councilor in the Municipality of Athens (2006) and from 2007-2011 he was President of the Youth and Sports Organization of the Municipality of Athens, with many activities and sporting events.

In 2010, as a candidate for Attica Regional Governor, he became the leader of the Major Opposition of the Attica Region. At the same time he assumed the duties of Deputy Program Secretary of New Democracy.

In 2012 he was elected in A ‘Athens with New Democracy and served as Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection.

In the elections of January and September 2015, he is re-elected member of parliament for Athens A with New Democracy.
From January to November 2016, he was the New Democracy Immigration Policy Coordinator.
On November 18, 2016, he was appointed spokesman for New Democracy.
On October 13, 2017, he assumed the duties of Head of National Defense of the New Democracy.
On July 9, 2019, the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis is appointed Minister of Health.
On August 31, 2021, he was appointed Minister of Tourism by the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Regional Governor of Attica

GEORGE PATOULIS

George Patoulis was born in Athens, Greece. He entered the Athens Medical School and specialized in Orthopaedic surgery at the Athens Laiko Hospital, where he also wrote a doctoral thesis. He is specialised in Health Economics and graduated from the National School of Public Health.

He was elected in the Board of the “LAIKO” Hospital, while at the same time he established the Association of the Trainee Doctors of Athens and Piraeus.

In 1997, he established the “Young Doctors” Pan-Hellenic Society and in 2002 the Association of the Freelance Doctors of Attica, where he still holds the position of the Honorary President.In 1998, he was elected municipal counsellor for the first time at the Municipality of Pefki, where he has formed the institution of Municipal Medical Centre.

In 2006, he was elected for the first time Mayor of Amaroussion in the Region of Attica. In 2010, he was re-elected with 57% and in 2014 he was again elected for the third time as a Mayor with 60%.

At the same time, he established the National Hellenic Inter-Municipal Network of Healthy Cities, while he also became the President of Association of Municipalities for the Protection and Restoration of Penteliko.

In June 2011, he was elected for the first time President of the Athens Medical Association. He was re-elected in the same post in 2014 and 2018. After his recent re-election in 2022, he became the longest-serving president of the Association. In January 2012, he became one of the founding members of the SOCIAL MISSION CLINIC.

In October 2014, he was elected President of Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, while in 2015 he was elected Vice President of the Council of Municipalities and Regions of Europe (CEMR), where he was elected again in December 2016.

In February 2018, he was elected President of ELITOUR.

In the Local Administration elections in 2019, he was elected Regional Governor of Attica with 66%. In October 2019, he was elected A’ Vice-President of the Association of Regions.

In February 2020, he was elected Vice-President of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and Head of the Greek Delegation of the Committee of the Regions for the 2020-2025 term.

His term lasted 2.5 years until July 2022 and he has been a Member ever since.

He has published various articles and other work in scientific medical magazines in Greece and globally.

He has a son, Alexandros.

KATERINA NOTOPOULOU

Born in Thessaloniki in 1988. She studied Psychology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a master’s degree from the University of Macedonia in European Youth Policy. She specialized in Counseling Psychology.

Katerina Notopoulou is a Member of the Standing committe on production and trade, and Member of the Special Permanent Committee on Equality, Youth and Human Rights.

  • Having participated in solidarity movements and structures. Has implemented campaigns and solidarity actions all over Europe.
  • Since November 2016, she has assigned as the Head of the Thessaloniki Office of the Prime Minister.

  • During the municipal elections in May 2019, she was one of the candidates for the position of Mayor of Thessaloniki under the political party of “Thessaloniki Together”.

OLYMPIA ANASTASOPOULOU

Olympia Anastasopoulou graduated with High Honors from Athens College and obtained a Law Degree from Athens University. She holds a L.L.M. in International and European Studies with a thesis on P.D.O. and G.I., as well as a M.B.A. with a major in finance and statistics.

As an attorney-at-law at the Supreme Court and Accredited Mediator with the Ministry of Justice, she has worked in Greece and abroad, whereas she has served as a legal counselor in the National Theater of Greece. Since 2010 she serves as Legal Counselor in E-EFKA.

In 2010 she was elected municipal counselor in Palaio Faliro.

In 2014 she joined the political party Potami.

In the national elections of July 2019 she ran as a parliamentary candidate in Southern Sector of Athens for New Democracy.

In January 2022 she was appointed Secretary General for Tourism Policy and Development.

She is fluent in English, French and German, married to Stefanos Adamopoulos and has two sons

YIANNIS RETSOS

Yiannis Retsos was born in Athens in 1969. He is a graduate of School of Law, University of Athens and holds a postgraduate degree in Hotel Management, from Cornell University, specializing in Hospitality Real Estate Finance.

He is the CEO and one of the major shareholders of Electra Hotels & Resorts, which operates six hotels in Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes and Kefalonia.

Yiannis Retsos was elected President of SETE – Greek Tourism Confederation in May 2017 and he is currently in the second term in the Presidency of the Association.

In March 2020 he was appointed Member of the General Council of the Bank of Greece.

From April 2011 until July 2017, he served as Chairman of the Hellenic Hoteliers Federation and during the period 2009 – 2011, he was the Chairman of the Athens-Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association.

Mr. Pavlos Efthymiou is the Director General of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association (E.EN.E) and Executive Advisor to the Athens Medical Group, in matters of growth, new business, innovation and strategy. At the same time, he participates as a partner and/or Board Member in other firms across a wide range of sectors.

He has a degree in economics, politics and international relations from the Universities of Bath and Cambridge in the UK. Before returning permanently to Greece in 2020, he was Policy Manager at the Quraysh Institute in London, and a founding member of the China-UK Development Council. In London and Brussels he collaborated with influential Think Tanks, businesses and institutions, focusing on risk analysis and the dynamics between geostrategy, political economy and entrepreneurship.

DIMITRIS FRAGAKIS

He was born on July 13, 1972. He comes from Platanias, Crete and grew up in Chania.

He has served as General Secretary of the Municipality of Chania, while he has a postgraduate diploma from the School of Law and Political Science of the University of Athens.

He has worked for 20 years, among other things, as a research associate in the Diplomatic Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Also, as Deputy General Director of the Konstantinos Mitsotakis Foundation as well as as a scientific collaborator in the Greek Parliament. He was an advisor to Kyriakos Mitsotakis when he was Minister of Administrative Reform & e-Government.

On August 28, 2019, he assumed the duties of General Secretary of the Hellenic Tourism Organization (EOT) with the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

He runs a tourism business, speaks excellent English and good Italian, is married and has a son.

ATHANASIOS STAVERIS

Secretary-General for Telecommunications and Posts Athanasios Staveris-Polykalas is specialised in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms, data analysis, and Natural Language Processing technologies.

On July 2019 he was appointed an adviser to the Minister of Digital Governance with strong contribution on cybersecurity matters and the implementation of the 112 alert service in cooperation with the Secretariat-General of Civil Protection.

Mr Staveris holds a PhD on High Energy Physics from the University of Athens, a Master’s degree on Applied Physics from the National Technical University of Athens, and an MBA for Executives from Plymouth University.

ELENA KOUNTOURA

Elena Kountoura is Member of the European Parliament for Greece. She has been appointed Coordinator of the Left group at the Transport and Tourism Committee, TRAN, and is member of the European Parliament Tourism Task Force TTF. She is also Member of the Committees on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality FEMM, Industry Research & Energy ITRE, and Artificial Intelligence AIDA.

Additionally, she is member of the Delegations of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean Substitute DMED, for relations with the Mashreq countries DMAS and for relations with the Korean Peninsula DKOR.

Previously, she had served as Minister of Tourism of Greece (2015 – 2019), and was recipient of several prestigious international awards, including “Tourism Minister of the Year 2019” in ITB Berlin, and “Global Champion 2019” for Destination Stewardship, by the World Travel & Tourism Council, WTTC.

During her long-standing political career (2004 -2019) she was elected six times as Member of the Greek Parliament in the First District of Athens. She had also been appointed Secretary to the Standing Committee on Monitoring the Decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, and Member of the Greek Parliamentary Assembly at the Council of Europe, PACE.

Elena Kountoura is also President of Europa Donna Hellas, the Greek branch of the European Coalition for Breast Cancer Europa Donna, advocating for the prevention and awareness of breast cancer and for claiming rights to better services for patients with cancer.

SHIMON PARNAS

Shimon Parnas is a veteran and experienced radio and television program editor and presenter.

For more than 45 years has been working on the Israeli national radio and TV and on commercial TV as a musical editor and representor of entertainment programs. He started his way as an expert in rock and pop music and unacceptably around the eighties he was slowly droughted towards world music and Greek music especially.

He started to play Greek bouzouki songs on the Israeli national radio on prime time during the eighties. His programs became very popular among many listeners, and in the beginning of the nineties he edited and represented a tv show called “PARNASS TAVERN “; which was like the famous Greek tv show called STIN YGIA MAS. His programs on radio and tv became very popular and it contributed a lot to the popularity of Greek music in Israel.

In the beginning of the nineties, he started to organize music and culinary tours to Athens and Thessaloniki, and he had the privilege to be the first one to do it, because after the success many tour companies and guides started to do the same.

Ioannis Smyrlis is a political scientist, graduate of the Department of Political Sciences and Public Administration with a Postgraduate Diploma in International and European Relations from the University of Athens (EKPA).

He represented the Ministry of Interior during the rotating Greek Presidency of the EU in 2013-2014.
